Course objectives
The subject has been designed for the students of secondary school tuition of computer science. Main objectives can be summarized as follows: It provides basic information in the field of educational processes (particularly educational reality); personality issues related to the tutor and student; curriculum as the contents of education; textbooks; classroom educational profile; evaluation of study results; the role of school as an institution of controlled education; pedagogical research; international comparison of educational systems. At the end of the course students should be able to understand basic information in the field of educational processes (particularly educational reality); create classroom educational profile; interpret curriculum as the contents of education.

  • Pedagogy as an academic discipline, philosophy of teaching.
  • Education, its functions, factors and forms.
  • Pedagogical principles and their application.
  • Selected chapters from the history of pedagogy, J.A. Comenius's teaching.
  • The teacher's profession. The school social environment.
  • Teacher's skills needed for co-operative communication.
  • Co-operative forms of teaching and learning in the process of pupil's socialisation.
  • Problems of novice teachers.
  • Open learning, project learning, team teaching, scheduling.
  • The pedagogy of leisure time and computer games.
  • Aspects of long-term development.
  • Schooling of the 21st century.

Teaching methods
lecture, explanation and demonstration, class group discussion, report, essay, presentation, project and its defence, dialogue method, guided exploration, excursion, critical thinking, classroom team work
Assessment methods
During semester each student presents report from given issue and commits an essay on topic that interested him during the teaching. 2 written tests, final test, final project, oral exam
