- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to introduce students to the definition of occupational therapy, its scope, objectives, methods, and contemporary concepts. It seeks to provide insight into the skills and competencies of an occupational therapist, define the occupational therapy process, and offer essential information for understanding therapeutic tools and techniques used in occupational therapy. The course focuses on occupational therapy procedures in selected clinical fields, including assessment and testing, selection of appropriate occupational therapy tools and assistive devices, and the design of targeted therapy.
- Learning outcomes
- Upon completing the course, the student will be able to:
- define the field of occupational therapy, its contemporary concept, and its role within rehabilitation;
- characterize the profession of an occupational therapist, including their skills and competencies;
- understand the fundamental areas of occupational therapy, its methods, procedures, and therapeutic possibilities;
- navigate occupational therapy processes and procedures;
- assess a patient's disability from an occupational therapy perspective and utilize their residual potential in therapy;
- apply strategies to support and train activities of daily living (ADL). - Syllabus
- 01. Occupational therapy as a part of rehabilitation, shor term and long term occupational therapy plan.
- 02. Basics of social and vocational rehabilitation, communication with the patient.
- 03. Materials and technical conditions of occupational therapy.
- 04. Quality of life and activities of daily living, personal assistance, assistive devices, architectural barriers.
- 05. Assesment and testing in occupational therapy, ergodiagnostic.
- 06. Occupational therapy in clinic disciplines.
- 07. Occupational therapy in workshops.
- 08. Occupational therapy in special pedagogical disciplines.
- 09. The use of parts of other therapies in occupational therapy.

- The final evaluation will be in the form of a written exam, it is necessary to meet min. 70%, and regular attendance 90%.
