- This module will enable students to:
To introduce students to the field of entrepreneurship in sport
The aims of this module are to present a range of issues on entrepreneurship related to the development of technical and non-technical innovation in sport ; to present a range of topics on small and medium-sized enterprises(SMEs) in sport as these companies are an important channel for the diffusion of technical and non-technical innovation;
- To examine the role entrepreneurship plays in sport industry
- To analyse the different types of activity contained within the definition, and the main theoretical and analytical approaches used to understand the concept.
- To consider entrepreneurial innovation at different stages of a business, from start-up to more mature firms.
- To enable students to assess their own entrepreneurial tendencies and skills
- To enable students to test their theories in a mini research project - Learning outcomes (in Czech)
- On completion of this module students should have the following knowledge, understanding and skills.
Knowledge and Understanding:
Subject specific knowledge
By the end of the module, students should have a critical appreciation of:
1. assess the current theories on entrepreneurship;
2. assess the main factors influencing the diffusion of technical and non-technical innovation
3. describe idea generation techniques, idea evaluation techniques and idea protection using intellectual property
4. the varying and pervasive role of entrepreneurship within the sport industry and the different contexts in which entrepreneurs in sport operate;
5. the approaches developed by researchers in attempting to understand the entrepreneurial process generally and in sport
6. their own entrepreneurial tendencies Subject specific skills By the end of the module, students should have:
a firm academic and empirical understanding of the dimensions and role of entrepreneurship in a sport industry;

- Teaching methods (in Czech)
- There will be a range of direct contact teaching and learning methods used – in principle, as the most appropriate methods in this particular module are considered lectures, analysis and seminars. The set of training methods like case study analysis, group exercises, and problem-solving discussion is used. The main learning activities are: Group exercises, Case studies, Problem discussions Self-study Lecture and seminar will be using various case studies and other resources. The lecture will provide students with an overview of the topic and the seminar will allow students to extend their understanding of the issue while developing analytical, presentation skills and managing their own performance. Self-study (Preparation for seminars) is a prerequisite for participation in the seminars so that students are able actively participate.
- Assessment methods (in Czech)
- Individual assignment on a given or chosen topic from a field of HRM in sport organization or sporting events (min 10 pages of text / student). This is a condition for granting credits.
