- Learning outcomes
- Students will: - understand the importance of performance analysis in the current sport as well as the possibilities for future job positions and career progression. - be able to identify and analyze critical patterns and events in a performance that lead to a successful outcome. - deliver a 45 minutes multi-media presentation and create a software-based task-panel profile for a team (or a players) and provide critical reflection of performance analyst style. - learn how to set category set in different software (Longomatch, Focus, or Dartfish). - be able to prepare and present an analysis of strengths and weaknesses in a selected match performance. - be able to prepare reports for the coaching staff as well as for the players based on data collection obtained from performance analysis, extract and filter data based on individual needs or a particular case.
- Syllabus
- 1. Introduction to the module; The need for feedback Performance analysis in sports course including course summary, learning objectives, learning outcomes, and content.
- 2. Notational analysis; Use and appraisal of Performance analysis software (Focus, Dartfish, Longomatch), hand notation and software-based notational analysis. The strengths and weaknesses of both methods
- 3. Video feedback and information technologies Task: Deliver a 45 minutes multi-media presentation and create a software-based task-panel profile for a team (or a players); critical self-reflection of performance analyst style.
- 4. How to design and develop a notational system category set in different software, KPIs for particular sports disciplines.
- 5. Analysis of notational data Practical lesson - an analysis of strengths and weaknesses in a selected match performance. A self-contained video (to include selected video clips from the match, appropriate additional commentary and music, statistical and/or qualitative feedback) in different media systems; the process of capturing and indexing the video, the augmenting of other performance-related information, the reason for the video sequences selected, effectiveness of the video in meeting its purpose.
- 6. Data interpretation and report preparation extract and filter data based on individual needs or a particular case; advanced levels of analysis and reporting; custom reports; automatic dashboard in Excel or the Athlete management platform.
