Prerequisites

The student: - is physically and co-ordinately fit for self-defense training, - is able to master and apply self-defense techniques, - is familiar with the issues of self-defense and combat sports, - knows the basic strategic, tactical, and technical principles of self-defense, - knows the legal aspects of self-defense (necessary defense, extreme emergency, authorization to use a weapon).

Course objectives
The course aims to equip students with advanced didactic skills to teach personal self-defense effectively. They will learn to apply pedagogical and psychological principles, evaluate teaching, and adapt training to different skill levels. Emphasis is placed on methodology, safety, and adaptation of teaching methods to the specific requirements of personal self-defense. Sub-goals: 1. Didactic and methodological preparation – To familiarize students with modern teaching methods, pedagogical principles, and didactic principles relevant to teaching personal self-defense. 2. Practical application – To acquire skills in conducting training and methodological analysis of self-defense techniques for various target groups. 3. Psychology and pedagogy in self-defense – To understand the psychological aspects of stressful situations, decision-making, and motivation of students/clients in the process of learning self-defense skills. 4. Adaptation to a specific environment – ​​To learn to adapt training methods to the specific conditions of the target group and their real personal/work situations. 5. Evaluation and improvement of teaching – The ability to analyze, evaluate, and improve the process of teaching self-defense concerning effectiveness and safety aspects.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course Didactics of Self-Defense, the student will be able to: 1. Didactic and methodological preparation: - Explain the basic didactic principles and methodological approaches to teaching personal self-defense. - Create and structure preparation for a lesson/lesson/course. 2. Practical application of teaching: - Effectively conduct self-defense lessons and lessons for individuals and groups. - Demonstrate and explain self-defense techniques with an emphasis on correct execution and safety. - Adapt teaching to the individual needs and abilities of students/clients, including crises and stress. 3. Psychological and pedagogical aspects: - Analyze psychological factors influencing the learning process and performance in self-defense. - Apply motivational and communication strategies to improve teaching effectiveness. - Prepare students/clients to manage stressful situations in self-defense situations. 4. Specific applications for teaching personal self-defense: - Adapt self-defense teaching to the specific needs of the interest group and legislation. - Use model situations and scenarios to simulate real threats and crises. 5. Evaluation and improvement of teaching: - Critically analyze the effectiveness of the teaching process and implement feedback to improve the methodology. - Identify and eliminate errors in the technical execution of self-defense techniques. - Design strategies for skill development and injury prevention during teaching/lessons and training.

  • 1. Introduction to self-defense didactics - Definition and meaning of self-defense. - Goals and outcomes of self-defense teaching. - Didactic principles in teaching self-defense techniques. 2. Didactic and methodological approaches to teaching self-defense - Teaching methods and their applications (demonstration, drill, model situations, role-playing). - Planning and structure of a training unit/lesson. - Specifics of teaching for different levels of interest groups or clients. 3. Psychology and pedagogy of self-defense - Student motivation and the role of the instructor. - Stress and its influence on performance in self-defense. - Strategies for managing crises. 4. Practical aspects of teaching self-defense - Basics of verbal and non-verbal communication in conflict situations. - Defense techniques (grip, hug, strangulation, punch, kick, in a disadvantaged position on the ground). 5. Model situations and applications in security forces - Simulation of real threats in model situations. - Pair work and teamwork. 6. Evaluation and development of self-defense teaching - Error analysis and feedback in the teaching process. - Injury prevention and safety measures in teaching. - Final evaluation and feedback.

Teaching methods
The course will combine theoretical knowledge with practical training and application of self-defense techniques in the context of personal self-defense. - Lectures/interactive curriculum: Theoretical basis of didactics, psychology, and legal aspects of self-defense. - Practical exercises: Training and demonstration of self-defense verbal and physical techniques, methodical work with individuals and groups, and creation and role-playing for self-defense teaching/training. - Model situations: Simulation of real conflict scenarios. - Final teaching project: Selected groups of students will prepare and teach a model self-defense lesson including methodological analysis. Teaching methods Using a diverse range of teaching methods to develop not only practical skills but also didactic abilities of students. - Instructional methods: Demonstration of techniques with an explanation of the main principles of movement. - Guided training method: Repetition of techniques in various variations for their mastery. - Problem-based teaching method: Solving situations where students independently seek the optimal solution for a defensive reaction. - Interactive methods: Discussion, brainstorming, and group work for a better understanding of self-defense didactics. - Feedback method: Mutual evaluation of teaching, analysis of errors, and suggestions for improvement. - Simulation and scenario teaching: Practicing self-defense in conditions as close as possible to real situations, role-playing. - Reflective learning: Self-assessment of students and their progress in teaching and didactic skills.
Assessment methods
The assessment will include theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and didactic skills of students. 1. Continuous assessment - Activity and involvement in teaching (discussion, practical exercises). - Quality of execution of self-defense techniques and their methodological teaching. - Analysis of model situations and ability to apply knowledge in practice. 2. Practical exam - Independent teaching of a self-defense lesson (student as instructor). - Demonstration of selected techniques with an emphasis on accuracy, efficiency, and safety. - Ability to adapt teaching to different levels of students and specific conditions. 3. Final teaching project - Preparation and implementation of a teaching block (lesson structure, methodological procedures, analysis). Assessment criteria The assessment will be based on a point system and a qualitative analysis of the student's performance. 1. Practical part (50% of the total grade) - Technical execution of self-defense techniques (speed, control, and correctness of technique). - Didactic skills in teaching (understandability, safety, adaptation to the level of students). - Ability to resolve crises during teaching. 2. Final teaching project (50% of the total grade) - Structure and methodology of the teaching lesson. - Creativity and ability to adapt to different target groups. - Quality of project defense and response to feedback.
