Course objectives
The main goal of this course is to provide students practical skills in the field of using sports massage as a means of regeneration. Within the framework of the lessons, we will focus on improving the practical application of the massage strokes from the Classical massage. We will also focus on the art of palpation (both surface and deep). The course is also focused on practical differentiation of soft tissues and palpation.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course the student is able to:
1. to identify the appropriate type of sports massage with regard to goals
2. to assess the current state of the locomotive system
3. to explain the choice of the chosen sport massage
4. to discuss the choice of used tactics in a sports massage
5. to practice a sports massage before, in a break of unfinished performance and after the completion of the physical activity
6. to design a regeneration protocol with respect to the athlete's physical load and physical activity
7. to evaluate the athlete's status based on the subjective feeling before and after the application of the selected type of sports massage
8. to evaluate the athlete's current readiness for performance in relation to objective parameters such as measuring range of motion
Syllabus
  • 1. Ergonomics of work. Repetition of tactics and assemblies from classic massage (Lower limb massage, back massage including scapula, Massage of the neck including scapula, Massage of the upper limbs, Massage of the abdomen)
  • 2. Role of masseur in preparation for sports performance
  • 3. Determination of basic anamnestic data necessary for the realization of massage 4. Measuring range of motion
  • 5. Communication between a masseur and an athlete in terms of preparing an athlete for performance
  • 6. Pre-event massage
  • 7. Massage in breaks between performances
  • 8. Massage after sport performance and its specifics
  • 9. Sport massage in speed-power sports
  • 10. Sport massage in endurance sports
  • 11. Sports massage in sports games
  • 12. Sports massage in aesthetic-coordinating and combo sports
  • 13. Sports injuries and massage applications
