Course objectives
The aim of the course is to obtain basic information about the human digestive system, individual components of nutrition and its digestion, absorption and other metabolism.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course students will be able to:
- Describe basic biochemical processes in the human body;
- explain basic physiological principles of gastrointestinal tract function;
- describe the process of digestion and absorption of carbohydrates, fats, proteins, minerals and vitamins and water and following metabolic processes taking into account the role of physical activity;
- Understand the basics of regulation of metabolic processes (the role and functions of key enzymes and hormones).
