Cíle předmětu
The aim of the course is to provide opportunities to students of Media Studies and Journalism to analyze and discuss news and journal articles and academic lectures about topical issues from journalism.
There will also be a strong writing component included in the course: feature stories based on ideas of slow journalism will be worked on (and re-worked) throughout the semester.
Students will also be asked to watch the news outside the class and produce well-crafted leads orally at the start of seminars.
Osnova
  • Week 1-3: interviewing skills, writing your own profile story
  • Week 4-8: news stories: analyzing the pyramid structure, the vocabulary of the headlines and subheads, different styles of news writing of different media, good and bad leads, writing your own news story
  • Week 9-12: the feature story: the language and structure of, analyzing a feature story for its characteristics (OWN WORK), writing your own feature story
