- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to bring students to an understanding of the development of the Catholic Church after World War II in the world, Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic. The roots of its post-war state, the developmental trends during and after the Cold War will be described and analyzed. Special attention will be paid to the different environments in which Catholicism operated after 1945 - totalitarian, authoritarian and democratic regimes. Separately, the neuralgic points of the relationship between Catholicism and society will be discussed.
- Learning outcomes
- Upon completion of the course, students will be able to: - Explain the developmental trends of Catholicism in the Czech and world environment after World War II; - identify its main characteristics; - characterize the current position of the Catholic Church in the world and the Czech Republic.
