Course objectives
The course focuses on the discourse analysis theory and practice. It provide to students deep understanding of social relations and culture from the perspective of discourse analysis. Students will critically learn both theory and methods of DA, especially critical discourse analysis and genealogy anylysis. The first part of the course (9 weeks) is based on thematically structured reading and classroom discussions of the texts. Particular lectures deal with various methodological approaches in the DA. During the second part (3-4 weeks) the students should at the workshop discuss their project of the final paper (it should be small empirical analysis or theoretical essay written on the given themes and based on the listed literature). The conditions to get the credits: The seminar paper (20 points), the final paper (60 points), final examination in the form of the classroom essay based on the mandatory literature (20 points). In order to get a credit it is needed to get at least 60 from possible 100 points.
