Course objectives
The course Political Systems of the EU Member States follows up the course Comparison of Political Systems. On the ground of already obtained knowledge in the field of comparative political science will the teaching of the subject be focused on introduction to relevant political systems of the western and central Europe. Attention will be drawn to both institutional and procedural forms of the political systems of selected countries. Throughout the course the main political institutions and their relations on the central level of the political systems will be followed. Only limited attention will be paid to the regional division of particular countries. The students will also be introduced the main political parties and party systems of the selected countries.
Main objectives can be summarized as follows: to understand the details of the political systems of the EU member states; to learn the particular variables of the party systems of the selected sountries; to elaborate capabilities of comparative analysis of political and party systems.

Assessment methods
The course is concluded with a written exam. Overall assessment is composed of the final written examination (80 points), midterm written examination (10 points) and seminar paper (10 points). To successfully complete the course, students have to achieve at least 60 points.
