- Cíle předmětu
- The students will visit three South Moravian sites where events of strategic or security significance took place. The course consists of four field trips, (general requirement is active participation at three of them). The field trips will take the whole day, the students and lecturer will visit former battlefields, towns, museums etc. in the South Moravian region. The students will learn about the Slavkov (Austerlitz) battlefield, the response of the army and gendarmerie to the violent strike in Oslavany in 1920, and the Iron Curtain separating communist Czechoslovakia from Austria. The course develops competences in analysing military and security issues.
- Výstupy z učení
- After completing the course the student will be able to:
- understand specific issues in the history of defence and strategy
- appreciate how terrain and other circumstances influence military strategy
- describe and analyze selected military and security issues - Osnova
- Syllabus: 1. Field trip to the Slavkov battlefield 2. Field trip to the site of the Oslavany industrial unrest 3. Field trip to the artillery fortification Hůrka/Bouda 4. Field trip to explore the Iron Curtain The students should wear outdoor clothing appropriate for the actual weather, hiking shoes and have to be able to walk minimum 10 - 15 km. Detailed travel plans will be distributed by email one week before each field trip.

- lectures, guided tour, field trip presentations by professionals in the sectors, homework, reading.
- Metody hodnocení
- To complete the course, students have to submit three position paper which have to be accepted by the teachers and adequate. Each position paper has 3 standard pages (1 standard page = 1800 characters, including spaces), ± 20%. Position papers are not graded, only accepted or not accepted. If not accepted, each position paper can be re-submitted once.
