- Development of academic skills and professional language designed for the students of the Faculty of Social Sciences; reaching the level B2 according to CEFR.
- Learning outcomes
- After completing the course the student will be able to: - present a brief academic presentation on a topic in their field of study and lead an academic debate - write the summary of a presentation and a text on specific topics - write the argumentative text about a controversial topic

- Teaching methods
- Presentations, discussions, work with authentic materials and specialized texts, group work, autonomous on-line learning.
- Assessment methods
- The course is evaluated by portfolio assessment consisting of formative feedback of the assignements done during the semester, among others academic presentation and essay. Active participation throughout the course (70% attendance). Oral presentation on an academic topic. Partial work throughout the semester: self-evaluation form, argumentative text on topics covered in class; summary of a videodiscourse; summary of an article. If a student does not complete the requierements during the semester, they will be given "X" and will not be allowed to sit for the final parts: presentation on an academic issue, summary of a written text, summary of a talk.
