- Cíle předmětu
- The course will give students an overview of the current state of knowledge about the role of gender in politics. We will discuss what it means to be political represented, what is the actual quality of women's representation in politics, their access to political offices, parties, candidacy, leadership, attitudes, and their general role in the policy making process. The course reflects current research on the topic of women in politics, deals with the situation in the Czech Republic and other countries as well. Student's perspectives on the state of women in politics in different countries will be appreciated.

- There will be lectures, seminar, written assignment and test.
- Metody hodnocení
- Seminar participation: There will be two 40-minutes seminars. One about women's' interest and its representation, the other about politics of gender quota. The attendance is compulsory. Students are expected to discuss the topics based on the assigned literature. Participation in discussions will be evaluated. Research paper: Each student will hand in a written assignment. Students will analyze topics related to history of and the current state of women's political representation. Topics will be specified in class. Exam test: The final exam covers the whole class (lectures and reading material will be included!!!). GRADING To pass the course students must attend both seminars, submit a paper and pass a written exam. To pass the course, students have to get at least 60% of the total number of points (for all evaluated parts of the course). Evaluation to be specified in the syllabus.
