Cíle předmětu
Learn to analyse sociological data using log-linear modelling and variants of logistic regression.
Výstupy z učení
This course is practical, it focuses on the analysis and interpretation of categorical data from sociological surveys. It is a workshop in which students learn to work with two statistical techniques, which have been used in the analysis of categorized data in social sciences since the second half of the 1980s. Students will learn to work with two statistical programs: LEM (for log-linear and log-multiplicative models) and STATA (for individual variants of logistic regression).
Osnova
  • 1) Course introduction: introduction of the topics and organization of the course
  • 2) Basic concepts of log-linear modelling and introduction to the LEM program
  • 3) Two-dimensional and multidimensional contingency tables 4) Basic hierarchical log-linear models
  • 5) More advanced log-linear models: topology, association, multiplication
  • 6) Group presentations of data analysis using log-linear multiplicative models
  • 7) Reading week for self-study and revision
  • 8) Introduction of the Stata program and introduction to logistic regression
  • 9) Logistic regression for a dependent variable of two categories
  • 10) Predictors in logistic regression and their interpretation
  • 11) Beyond the binary logistic regression: ordinal and multinomial logistic regression I
  • 12) Beyond the binary logistic regression: ordinal and multinomial logistic regression I
  • 13) Group presentations of data analysis using log-linear and log-multiplicative models
