- Course objectives
- The course will introduce the basic aspects of quantitative research methods in the field of international relations and the part of European studies aiming at the research of the political dimension of the EU and European politics. The course covers relevant concept, methods, and research strategies.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course, a student will be able to utilize quantitative methods, to understand the key concepts related to the quantitative research and will be able to apply the qualitative methods on the particular topic of the dissertation.

- Teaching methods
- The course combines lectures with seminars.
- Assessment methods
- The students will get familiar with all the texts of the assigned readings. The teachers will test the knowledge and understanding of the texts during the seminars based on compulsory attendance (70 per cent of the final evaluation). The students will write an essay (circa 10-15 pages long) at the end of the course, in which they explain which qualitative methods and how they can use in their doctoral research (30 per cent of the final evaluation). If the doctoral project excludes statistical methods as suitable tool, student is supposed to convincingly explain reasons behind this in his/her essay.
