- Cíle předmětu
- The overarching goal is to offer students a comprehensive practical understanding of the diverse issues on research methodologies in sociology by use of both quantitative and qualitative approaches. Individual research projects include choosing research method and tool, formulating research problems/questions, techniques for gathering data, presenting and interpreting results and research ethics.

- •Recognize, define and discuss various methods for research in the social sciences
•Review and assess existing research according to its methodology and use of data and methods
•Compare and contrast quantitative and qualitative research methods
•Formulate research problems and apply techniques for collecting data and presenting and interpreting findings that address the relevant research questions
•Cultivate research proficiency and expertise by undertaking semester-long assignments that involve designing, conducting, analyzing and presenting two research projects - Osnova
- The course will not consist of weekly seminars, where teacher gives lectures. Students fulfill the assignments and have individual/team projects. The following assignments are to be fulfilled:
- 1) Qualitative project - running in-depth interviews (individual/team assignment)
- 2) Quantitative project - questionnaire design, piloting, data gathering, analyzing, presenting - topic placed in the context of an appropriate research question, hypothesis and sampling strategy (individual/team assignment).
- 3) An analysis/review of the role that issues of measurement and analysis play in social sciences (individual assignment)
- • 1st seminar: In-class presentations of the 1st assignment
- • 2nd seminar: In-class presentations of the 2nd assignment

60% – Systematic work on assignments
