- Philosophical and academic bases of the course focus the drug problem as a phenomenon reaching beyond the borders of just one field of knowledge. It is the result of the theory, which presents the drug problem or drug addiction as a bio-psycho-social phenomenon, and from the multispecialty character of applied interventions originating thereof. The course critically examines the offer of current services and particular interventions in a broader context, namely from the perspective of not only medical treatment, but also historical, cultural, economic and of course political context. The next ambition of the course is to introduce and critically examine theories and models of drug use and follow-up options, eventually limits of offered services as answers to these theories and models. Theoretical models of work with drug users in the context of the latest knowledge will be introduced to students and at the same time, the students will participate in practising the needed skills.
- Výstupy z učení
- By the end of the course, the students will be able to:
1. understand key elements of the drug issue to be able to perform the basic “assessment” in working with the client and to select appropriate interventions
2. understand possibilities of currently offered services, differentiation of individual models – medical-social, educational and self-helping, including specific interventions in the areas of “gender”, minorities, and work with drug user families
3. acquire basic skills in the field of “drug” counselling” in the context of the bio-psycho-social model
4. be able to critically evaluate psycho-sociological theories of drug use and to apply the knowledge in the development of services and individual interventions
5. understand the management of (drug) services – possibilities and limitations of team work, data collection about clients, continual evaluation of provided services, operating work manuals
The course participants will also acquire the community concept of working with drug users – possibilities of collaborating with the follow-up facilities, bridging and “networking“ in the local community, case management – possibilities and limitations for the collaboration of repressive, preventive and medical institutes in the local community. - Osnova
