- Cíle předmětu
- The student’s task is to conduct independent research under the guidance of their supervisor in the field of political science, media studies, and communication. By the end of the course, students will be able to analyze the results of this research and prepare the presentation of the research. They will compose an academic text, according to the length and formal standards for the bachelor thesis in the program (incl. structure of the thesis, abstract, key words, format, citation standard and list of references and bibliography). This involves the following specific outcomes: Defining a specific research topic in their field, organizing, and managing independently conducted research, finding, analyzing and interpreting the data, relating the data analysis to social science theory and composing an academic text meeting the theoretical, methodological and formal standards in their field. Also, students wil be prepared to defend their thesis.
- Výstupy z učení
- After completing the course, a student will be able to conduct independent research based on secondary data analysis, write, present and defend its results in the form of a thesis meeting the standards of academic writing.
- Osnova
- The course is based on regular individual consultations between students and supervisors. The consultations are aimed at conduction of the research, data analysis and interpretation and on writing of the thesis in accordance with the principles of academic writing and standard in the field of political science, media studies, and political communication. Also, the students will learn principles of thesis defences and arguments used for presentation of results of academic research.

- Výukové metody
- The student participates in individual consultations with the supervisor in all stages of thesis preparation, writing, and completion.
- Metody hodnocení
- This course takes the form of individual consultations of students’ theses with their supervisors. It concludes with a credit granted by the supervisor on the basis of the evaluation of the text uploaded in the File Depository of the Diploma Thesis Seminar. The course can be successfuly passed in the regular term after the text was uploaded in the File Depository in accordance with the deadline set by the Department`s schedule. In case it is uploaded after this deadline (ar by the end of the examination period by latest), the course can be passed in the resit.
