Course objectives
To better understand contemporary anthropological theories via reading and discussion of the relevant texts.
Learning outcomes
The ability to detect the preferential theory of the author, once reading his/her ethnography. The ability to propose the most suitable theory to deal with a particular topic in anthropology.

  • 2. Archeology of knowledge and idea of the "anthropos"
  • 3. Power, knowledge and governing/Societies of surveillance
  • 4. Social structure, post-structuralism, symbolic anthropology
  • 5. Social field theory, praxis, habitus, sensuality and senses
  • 6. Anthropos figure today and posthumanism
  • 7. More-than-human agency and sociality/ Symbiosis
  • 8. Anthropocene_ more-than-human worlds (ANT, Neomaterialism)
  • 9. Cultural logic of modern colonialism and post-colonialism
  • 10. Cultural imagery, museums, exhibitions, galeries.
