Course objectives
The aim of the course is to provide students with knowledge in the field of personnel management, which is an essential part of the complex process of managing an organization and introducing and mastering the basic methods of analysis and planning in the field of human resources.
Special emphasis is placed on clarifying the connections between strategy, organization and human resources management as a complex indivisible whole, where individual elements condition and influence each other. Mastering the initial assumptions of personnel management, which are planning in the field of human resources and personnel analysis, is the basic starting point for a systemic approach in the field of personnel management.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to:
- to identify and summarize and critically reflect the basic knowledge of HRM approaches and processes in work organizations in the private as well as the public sector;
- to apply the theoretical knowledge and to develop personnel strategy and personnel plans to solve specific problem situations in the field of human resource management and development in selected working organizations
Syllabus
  • 1. Strategic human resource management in the organization: vision, mission, strategic goals, strategy, strategic operations.
  • 2. The impact of work organization on the performance of HRM: HR strategy and HR policy in different types of organizations. Influence of organizational structure on personnel management.
  • 3. External strategic analysis tools
  • 4. Internal strategic analysis tools
  • 5. SWOT analysis as integrating analytic tool
  • 6. HR analysis in the organization: use of statistics and advanced HR analysis techniques
  • 7. Analysis of labour demand and supply in the organisation: Analysis and description of jobs, analysis of internal and external mobility
  • 8. Analysis in recruitment and selection: reliability and validity of recruitment and selection methods, predicting performance and turnover from recruitment and selection data
  • 9. Analysis of work attitudes and motivation system: employee satisfaction, motivation, commitment, engagement and reward and appraisal
