Course objectives
The purpose of the course is to provide students with a basic insight into the topics and methodological procedures of personality psychology. It will address issues of intelligence and cognitive dispositions, affective (emotional) dispositions, and personality characteristics that co-determine functioning in interpersonal relationships. At the same time, it will focus on the basic principles of measuring these human characteristics.
Learning outcomes
Graduates will understand the principles underlying the measurement of personality characteristics in psychology. They will become familiar with the basic concepts used in contemporary personality psychology to describe human thinking, interpersonal dispositions and affectivity. They will understand the basic mechanisms by which hereditary and environmental factors work together to shape these in a person's life, and in particular the methods by which psychological science investigates this. In addition, it will enhance the ability to recognise the relevant commercial offer of psychological diagnostic services, particularly for education and HR.

  • The course is divided into five thematic blocks: 1. Measurement in Psychology 2. Interpersonal dispositions 3. Emotional and motivational dispositions 4. Cognitive dispositions 5. Formation of personality dispositions - influence of heredity and environment

Lectures and discussions, online exercises.
Assessment methods
Ongoing online quizzes and a graded essay.
