Course objectives
The goal of the course is to provide students with deeper insight into political processes, institutions and acteurs within the Czech political system in order to enable them to make its analysis.
Syllabus
  • 1. Introduction into analysis of Czech politics 2. The most important political acteurs, processes, cleavages and "nets" in the Czech politics. Levels of forming of policy in the Czech politics (local, regional, national, international). 3. Constitutional order and guarantees of human rights in the Czech Republic. 4. The Parliament of the Czech Republic (the House of Deputies, the Senate). 5. President, government, departments and other central organs of the state administration. 6. Lower levels of state administration, local and professional self-government. 7. Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic, general courts, the Highest Control Office, public protector of human rights 8. Elections in the czech Republic, chances of the direct democracy in the Czech Republic. 9. Political Parties ant interest groups within the Czech political system. 10.Fiscal and monetary policy, budgetary, tax, custom, industrial policies in the Czech Republic. 11.Social policy, employment policy, healt care policy. 12.Security policy in the Czech Republic (internal, external). 13.Perspectives ov the evolution of Czech politics.
