Course objectives
This course surveys basic information about political history of baltic states in the 20th century. The course is focused on development of political and party systems of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.
Syllabus
  • 1. Formation of Baltic region; 2. Political system of Lithuania until 1940; 3. Political system of Estonia until 1940; 4. Political system of Latvia until 1940; 5. Soviet occupation of Baltic region 1939-1941; 6. Baltic region during Stalin era 1941-1953; 7. From Stalin to independence 1953-1991; 8. Political system of contemporary Lithuania I.; 9. Political system of contemporary Lithuania II.; 10. Political system of contemporary Estonia I.; 11. Political system of contemporary Estonia II.; 12. Political system of contemporary Latvia; 13. Test.
