Police and Forensic Psychology Lecturer: Mgr. Veronika A. Polišenská, MSc. Tel: 606 109 770 e-mail: v.polisen@seznam.cz The goal of the course is to introduce a the issue of aggression and violence when regarding different criminal acts within the realm of Forensic Psychology. The course will cover specific violent crimes, typologies of offenders as well as the likely victims. The course will also discuss the role of psychology within the investigative realm, spatial behavior of offenders and possible prevention methods.

  • 1. Introduction to the course - Forensic psychology, Criminal psychology, Criminology - Definitions of aggression and violence - Psychological, biological and sociological theories of violence 2. Criminal behavior - Salience, Differentation, Consistency, Inference - Anger and aggression - Causes of aggression - Predicting violence - Police work and psychology 3. Geography of crime - Spatial behavior - Profiling - Criminal specialization - Differences in aggressive behavior 4. Domestic violence - Family violence - Child abuse - Child testimony Juvenile and street crime - Hooliganism - Drugs 5. Violent crimes - Murder and rape - Offender typology 6. Property crimes - Arson - Burglary 7. Organised crimes - Gangs - Criminal Networks
Assessment methods (in Czech)
Ukončení: zápočet písemná práce, 5 str., aplikace diskutovaných teorií na trestný čin vybraný z novin, televize či odborných policejních magazínů. V knihovně je svázáná složka článků k dané tématice.
