- Prerequisites
- Every student should e-mail to Dr David Holub (on: holub.mail@gmail.com) one psychoanalytic topic chosen from the textbook: Fonagy, P., Target, M. Psychoanalytické teorie. Perspektivy z pohledu vývojové psychopatologie. Portál, Praha 2005 (or suggested further reading). It is advised every student is aware of this particular and chosen psychoanalytic subject more in detail before the course and prepares 15 minutes PowerPoint presentation (maximum 10 slides) on the strengths and weaknesses of this specific psychoanalytic concept. The main reason for advanced reading is to be able represent the chosen psychoanalytic concept in group discussions. For actual opening of the course, 7 students are needed to enroll.

- Course objectives
- This course belongs in an group of aplicated psychotherapeutical approaches in clinical praxis. It emphasizes an understanding of psychoanalytical thinking and working with particular theoretical concepts in clinical praxis. The aim of the course is to arouse curiosity and understanding towards psychoanalytical approach. Lectures include demonstration of chosen theoretical concepts in clinical casuistics and simulated short scenes. This allows to connect theory and praxis in specific clinical situations.
- Syllabus
- - Introduction into the fundamental psychoanalytic theoretical and technical concepts to give student’s a common starting point and a basic familiarity with what psychoanalysis is; - Introduction into the psychoanalytic listening and understanding and how psychoanalyst think about common clinical dilemmas; - A critical evaluation of some concepts.

- Assessment methods
- Type of Completion: z(credit, 2 credit(s). Lectures will take form of one weekend session in FSS faculty rooms, in autumn 2009. Weekend session timetable: Fri 15:00--19:45, Sat 8:00--19:45, Sun 8:00--12:00. To successfully complete the course and obtain the credits you are asked to: 1. 100% presence on the weekend seminar including group discussion, short presentation and sharing personal experience. 2. a previous study of literature related to the chosen topic (particular psychoanalytic school) and prepare 15 minutes PowerPoint presentation (maximum 10 slides) on the most significant contributions of this specific approach.
