Cíle předmětu
The main objectives of the course are the following:
1. explain how and on which principles our current financial system works, how the money system influence the whole economy and what are the consequences for sustainability
2. introduce alternative money systems, so called "complementary currencies", which can work either on international or regional level and build on other rules than the current money system
3. give concrete exaples of existing regional currency systems in Germany as a viable complement to the the national and supernational currencies
4. initiate discussion about our perception of money and possibilities of change of the current financial system

Metody hodnocení
The course will take place between 10th and 14th of November 2009. Exact hours will be agreed with the lecturer and participants at the beginning of the term.
Teaching methods include preliminary reading, lectures, class and group discussions.
100% presence at the lectures is the only condition for succesful completion of the course. Only serious reasons for absence and only partial absence can be accepted.

Informace učitele
The lecturer, Ralf Becker, lives in Germany and works for "Regiogeld" as an advisor for local and regional currency groups. He contributes to a new Club-of-Rome-Report „Our Future Economy: Money and Sustainability – The Missing Link“. The course will be taught in English and at least intermediate language level is needed. Participants will get an article in advance to familiarize with the theme and vocabulary. During the course there will be the possibility of translation of some difficult points to Czech if most of the participants have problems with understanding.
