- Course objectives
- The course is devoted to the news part of broadcasting primarily in terms of principles and standards of radio journalism. It introduces the methods used in radio news and offers theoretical and practical foundation for the journalistic work (especially in news area and current journalism). The course makes students familiar with the work with resources, with the rules of creating news reports, editing of texts and rules of ordering messages in the main sessions of public radio. A part of the course is a practical exercise in the studio with the aim to create basic news genres.
- Syllabus
- 1. specific features of the radio in the system of mass media with regard to reporting, specifics of writing reports for radio and their interpretation, the construction of radio reports
- 2. selection of topics, information sources, the work of major news editorial staff, the work of domestic and foreign reporters, the work of recherche division
- 3. news in the current structure of radio program, the specifics of reporting areas of the Czech Radio and private radio stations
- 4. main news genres (classical message, audio message, journalistic report ..), the analysis of samples from the Czech Radio 1 and Radio Česko Radiožurnál
- 5. the role of current journalism in the broadcasting of public radio - analysis of discussion programs
- 6. methodology for making radio interview
- 7. practical exercises in the studio of Czech Radio focused on the basics of radio technology 8. Czech Radio history, use of radio archive, cooperation with the radio section EBU
