Cíle předmětu
The aim of the course is to explain the concept of organizational culture and to introduce various theories and methodologies employed in organizational culture studies. Organizational culture will be explored in relation to more general themes in organizational studies and sociology, such as power, legitimacy, identity, performance, interactional order or organizational change. Drawing on both theory articles and illustrative research papers, students will learn to interpret cultures in organizations from managerial to critical, normative to analytical, as well as more alternative (sociological) perspectives.

Metody hodnocení
Students are expected to attend every lesson and join discussions about the assigned readings. Students are also required to turn in five short (1-2 page) comparisons of the texts selected for each lesson as well as one presentation and a longer analytical paper (8-10 pages) interpreting the most noteworthy findings of their small study of an organization of their choice. The final grade will be based on the sum of points gained for five short papers (max. 5x6 – together 30 points), class discussions (max. 15 points), presentation (15 points) and final paper (40 points).

Předmět je určen přednostně pro studenty českých magisterských studijních programů. Předmět nebude vyučován pokud si ho zapíše méně než 5 studujících.
