- Cíle předmětu
- The aim of the course is to familiarise students with the development and key problems of the Polish foreign policy. Attention will be paid firstly to the ideological basis of the Polish foreign policy and brief overview of Polish foreign policy concepts in the 20th century. The position of Poland in international relationships during the years 1989/1990, i.e. at the beginning of the independent Polish foreign policy, will be explained subsequently. This will be followed by an outline of the legislative framework and introduction of the main actors in the Polish foreign policy. The main part of the course will be dedicated to individual problems and areas that play a major role in the Polish foreign policy. Development of the foreign policy until 1990 will be introduced for each of the topics, focusing on the major milestones, the internal political and social debate in Poland will be analysed along with the factors that formed this debate, and the current situation and problems in the relevant area will be outlined. The course will include one lecture with a selected expert.

- 1) Introduction, explanation of the course structure and conditions for completing the course 2) Brief excursion into the history of the Polish statehood and development of the Polish foreign policy thinking until 1990 3) Accession of Poland to the European Union and relationships between Poland and Germany until 2004 4) Poland as a member of the EU and dimensions of relationships with Germany after 2004 5) Polish foreign policy with regard to the USA and safety dimension of the Polish foreign policy 6) Eastern Europe in Polish foreign policy 7) Polish foreign policy with respect to Russia 8) Central European dimension of the Polish foreign policy: Poland in the Visegrad Group, Czech and Polish relationships and Polish and Lithuanian relationships
- Metody hodnocení
- The course will be delivered as a combination of lectures and seminars. The condition for successful completion of the course are structured as follows: Two essays up to 30 points Oral exam up to 20 points To complete the course successfully, students must score at least 30 points from the total number of 50 points. Completing and submitting two essays relating to individual lectures and participation in these lectures are an essential condition for completing the course.
