Cíle předmětu
The main objective of this course is to introduce new scholars to significant conceptual and theoretical issues related to the Caspian Sea region. A secondary objective is to provide practical training in form of policy challenges and perspectives for those whose career would involve this significant region of the world.
Výukové metody
This is an intensive course so the instructor expects everybody to be prepared for every single class session, and to have completed all readings. The course involves a good deal of reading, but the students are advised to comprehend the main ideas and identify significant detail which have major impact. The assignments’ goal is not memorization of the facts, theories, or policies, but effective analysis of complex issues.
Metody hodnocení
Your final grade is based on a point system. I will not put letter grades on your assignments in order to avoid misleading interpretations of your final grade. Thus, the student who is not doing well with a particular seminar requirement can still earn enough points to get a desirable final grade. Attendance (All 5 days) 20 points Class Participation in each session 20 points Leading Course Discussion & Presentation 20 points Final Analytical Paper 40 points TOTAL 100 points
