The course is intended for students of the Faculty of Social Sciences. Minimum level of German B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. - Course Enrolment Limitations

- Developing academic and communicative skills and professional language aimed at students of the Faculty of Social Sciences; reaching level C1 of competence according to the CEFR. Appropriateness, fluidity and mediation techniques will be emphasized.
- Learning outcomes
- The participant will be able to understand a wide variety of extensive texts with a certain level of demand, as well as recognize implicit meanings in them. They will know how to express themselves fluently and spontaneously with semantic and grammatical precision, which will allow to differentiate nuances of meaning even in academic and work environments with a high degree of specialization and complexity.
- Syllabus
- The thematic axis of the course is based on the social sciences, the concrete themes will be set according to the preferences and needs of the participants of the course. • Language, academic and other skills to be developed: • essay writing • reasonning • argumentation (arguments and examples) • oral presentation techniques • self-reflective writing

- Teaching methods
- Presentations, discussions, work with authentic materials and specialized texts, group work, autonomous on-line learning.
- Assessment methods
- The course is evaluated by portfolio assessment consisting of formative feedback of the assignements done during the semester and final tasks at the exam period. The portfolio workload will depend on the way the subject is completed (zápočet x zkouška).
