- The course is intended for students of the Bachelor's degree inSocial Policy and Social Work. It is also open to students of Public Policy.

- Course objectives
- The goal of the course is to make students familiar with differences in operating of nongovernmental non-profit organizations in comparison with organizations of market sector, which work on profit-making principle. The course prefers that kind of orientation in this problem area which enables students to find out and explain relations in operating of non-profit sector. Also they should be able to evaluate the pros and the cons in realization of mission and goals of existing nongovernmental non-profit organization.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of this course, students should be able to:
apply the qcquired knowledge in the practice of a nongovernmental non-profit organization operating in ghe social field, especially when writing a project application. - Syllabus
- Thematic plan of the meetings:
- 1.Introductory information about the course. Definition of the nongovernmental non-profit sector. History of the non-profit sector in the Czech Republic.
- 2.Legislative definition of the non-profit sector. Corporations: registered associations and branches of associations. Foundations: foundations and philanthropic funds, registrated institutions. Organizations on the borderline between corporations and foundations, organizations on the borderline of the sector, "atypical" legal forms.
- 3. Financing of NGOs. Fundraising.
- 4. Semester assignments.
- 5. Accounting and taxation of NGOs. Economic management of NGOs.
- 6.Volunteering in NGOs. / Humanitarian aspect of NGOs.
- 7. Evaluation of semester assignments. Final test.
