Knowledge of international law at the master level, a sense for theoretical thinking,and advanced command of English are indispensable. The knowledge of two or more world languages is an asset.

Course objectives
The aim of the subject is to develop an understanding of dispute settlement in international law.
Learning outcomes
Doctoral students will enhance their level of argumentation concerning international dispute settlement. They will be able to view the systemic links between international dispute settlement and other regimes of international law. Students will develop their understanding of various strategies in international disputes settlemennt. They will better grasp the importance of the choice of the particular means of dispute settlement.

Teaching methods
Self_study, consulation and discussion (max. 2 hours per term), writing of an essay, problem-solving
Assessment methods
1. an essay of 10 pages in English, which will discuss a recent development or issue relevant to international dispute settlement. This essay will deal with the state of the art on the chosen topic and bring its own innovative insight. 2. Problem-solving - a proposal of a convenient method of dispute resolution of a real international conflict situation 3. Evalution of the preparation and performance during consultations.
