Course objectives
The aim of the course is to deepen the knowledge of the nature and functions of antitrust law, its systemic integration into legal regulatory framework and its own internal systematics. It wil also deepen the understanding of the principles, norms and sources of public competition law and its institutes. Emphasis is focused on the understanding and analysis of current challenges and developments in this area of regulation.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course, students should be able to understand current trends in the development of antitrust law and the external conflicts of goals that the antitrust currently faces. They should also be able to provide basic legal economic analysis and commentary on current domestic and European decision-making practice.
Syllabus
  • 1. Concept, purpose and function of competition law. 2. Contemporary conflicts of goals in competition law. 3. The relationship between competition law and competition economics.
Teaching methods
Individual theoretical study; feedback seminars on selected issues related to the dissertation topic; internships; written essays.
Assessment methods
Credit will be granted in an oral colloquium.
