- Course objectives
- The student will acquire basic knowledge about International Law as a system and about the European Union - its functioning and its juridical system, including its relationship to the Czech national law.
- Syllabus
- 1. Introduction to International Law - characteristics, specificities, State as its subject 2. International Treaty as Source of International and Internal Law 3. European Union - characteristics, supranationality, evolution, competences, institutional structure 4. EU Law - characteristics, sources 5. Application of EU Law in Member States - primacy, direct effect, indirect effect, Francovich liability 6. Enforcement of EU Law, types of actions before the Court of Justice, procedure, types of decisions 7. EU Internal Market (4 Freedoms) 8. Area of Freedom, Security nad Justice 9. EU as a Customs Union 10. Tax harmonisation in the EU 11. Human Rights Protection in the EU
