- Course objectives
- The main objective of this course is developing of student's ability to cope with interpersonal conflicts as well as group conflicts. Students will receive information on current social problems and conflicts associated with these problems. In the end of the course students should be able to apply theoretical knowledge received in this course in practice in their profession. Various methods and procedures of conflict resolution will be discussed and rehearsed in the model situations (simulations). The main emphasis will be placed on opportunity to practice efficient ways of solving conflicts. In the end of the course students will gain the ability to orientate themselves in conflict situations and to apply acquired skills in practice. Students will be able to prevent most of the conflict situations, especially dysfunctional ones, identify barrier positions and recognize various types of conflict. They will also identify the stage of conflict and use appropriate procedures for solving it. They will learn to deal with "problematic" people and mitigate aggression and passivity of others. Students will become familiar with a method called "active listening", and try the role of mediator and negotiator.

- Teaching methods
- Practicing of model situations Analysis of video recordings and of recordings including simulated situations of students Thorough analysis of conflict situations in the microstructure, macrostructure and mesostructure The main emphasis will be placed on the reflection of the participants of the course with regard to the possibility of use of trained skills in practice.
- Assessment methods
- Students must actively participate in the team work and be active in individual and group performances. A final assessment will come from feedback from teachers and other students. Seminars are aimed at practice exercises (audiovisual presentations, case studies). A final: a oral examination - a colloquium. Oral examination, ballot 1 question and overview about 5 next questions, minimum 50% correct answers.
