Course objectives
The course introduces students to the fundamentals of the general part of environmental law and the basic institutes of the key component regulations. It aims to explain and demonstrate through practical examples how the individual legal instruments are applied in practice and how they are interrelated, both from the perspective of public authorities and from the perspective of the addressees of legal regulation.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course the student will be able to work with the sources of Environmental Law, to understand the essence and mission of the object of Environmental Law, in both general and special part of Environmental Law, to explain its functions. The student will be able to express the legal opinion on the basic practival cases, identify the competent authority and prepare the appropriate application.
Syllabus
  • General part: Basic concepts, the system, sources, entienties and constitotional grounds for Environmental Law. The participation of the public in making decisions on the environment. The rights to industrion about the environment. Prevention in Environmental Law. Liability in Environmental Law. Economic instruments for the environment protection. Special part: Air protection. Wastage. Water protection. Land and forest protection. Nature conservation. Only two selected topics of the rest in special part of environmental law will be taught in each course. These topics will be delimited by the BZ406Zk Programme for each specific semestr.

Teaching methods
Lectures - an analytical look at the contemporary legislation and the judicial acts connected therewith and the application relating to the subject to be lectured. Power point presentations will be used and students will be given an interactive approach during the lecture. Hence students will be given a chance to ask questions regarding to the subject of the lecture. Class discussions.
Assessment methods
Oral exam: Student has to prove his or her knowledge of the topic they selected by lot. The exam will encompass general part of environmental law and only two topics in the special part of environmental law delimited according to the BZ406Zk Programme for each specific semestr.Classification makes the teacher according to correctness and perfection of the answers.It is not allowed to use legal enactments in preparation for oral exam.
