Course objectives
The purpose of this course is to inform students about role and tasks of advocacy in the Czech republic, including its perspectives in the European Union.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students should be able to:
explain the conception of advocacy;
understand the history of advocacy in the Czech countries;
define the organization of advocacy;
analyse the conditions for practicing the advocacy;
describe the status of a advocate and of a legal trainee, their rights and duties;
understand the Czech advocacy in the European Union
Syllabus
  • Introduction, material and formal conception of advocacy, numerus clausus;
  • The Czech Bar Association and its bodies;
  • Advocacy in Czech countries from the oldest times up until today;
  • Advocacy and conditions for its practicing;
  • Forms of practicing the advocacy;
  • Rights and duties of a advocate according to the Act on the advocacy and Ethics code I.;
  • Rights and duties of a advocate according to the Act on the advocacy and Ethics code II.;
  • Disciplinary proceedings;
  • A legal trainee and his relation to the employer and to the Czech Bar Association;
  • Attorney fees and basic rules of leading of a law office;
  • Perspectives of Czech advocacy in the European Union
