Course objectives
The course is intended primarily for students whose research focus is in the field of labour or social law. It will focus on deepening knowledge of labour law and social security law in deeper and broader contexts. The course will be problem-oriented, focusing on current topics addressed in the professional literature and case law, also taking into account the research focus of enrolled students.
Learning outcomes
Students should broaden their knowledge in the professional areas being discussed. They should learn to formulate their own professional analytical solutions to more specifically formulated professional questions and to develop their ability to present them. They will be able to solve complex cases in selected areas based on a deep understanding of the theoretical foundations and knowledge of decision-making practice.
Syllabus
  • Collective labour law and its meaning, concept, subjects. Trade unions as subjects of labour relations. Formation of trade unions under Czech law, international regulation of the formation and status of trade unions, powers of trade unions in labour relations - comparison of the old regulation and the new Labour Code.

  • Aktuální publikace a soudní rozhodnutí dle zadání lektora (Current publications and court decisions according to the lecturer's assignment)
Teaching methods
reading of assigned texts, subsequent joint discussion of them, solving case studies, presentation of solutions, peer to peer review, group work, formulation of questions on the topic and their mutual solution among students
Assessment methods
participation in joint meetings, the professional level of contributions to the discussion, the quality of prepared written submissions, the depth and comprehensiveness of the arguments
