Course objectives
The course develops language skills, especially reading comprehension and writing. The students are expected to reach the language competence of B1 level applied to specific and academic language. At the end of this course students will be able to understand simple texts on specific topics.
Syllabus
  • 1. Basic legal terms - what is law, introduction to legal English 2. Lawyers at work, curriculum vitae, job interview 3. Sources of law - common law systems, continental systems 4. Civil and public law 5. Fundamental rights - constitutional and human rights 6. Contracts - essential elements, types of contracts 7. Land law - a copy of an entry in the Land Register 8. Criminal law 9. Public administration 10. Correspondence with citizens and institutions - formal letters, e-mails

The course is taught on the basis of an e-learning program. It is ended by a colloquim including a test followed by a discusssion.
