Course objectives
Students get knowledge about neurological causes of eye motor disorders, visual pathway, visual field scotomas. Clinical signs, diagnostic possibilities in case of correction with optical aid.

Students get knowledge about neurological causes of eye motor disorders, their clinical sings and diagnostic possibilities in case of correction with optical aid.
Syllabus
  • Visual pathway anatomy and pupilomotor pathway. Neuro-ophthalmic examination – anamneses, examination of the bulbus, motility, visual acuity, visual field. Electrophysiological methods – ERG, EOG, VEP, EMG. Imagination methods – skiascopy, CT, NMR, ultrasound, fluorescence angiography. Headache and eye, vision disorders – scotomas, hemianopsia. Examination of the diplopia. Examination on Hess screen. Nystagmus – definition and classification. Pupil and pupil reaction. Changes of discus optici – inherited disorders, atrophy, pressing, inflammations, tumours and injures of the optic nerve. Chiasma diseases, retrochiasmatic diseases. High visual centres disorders. Third nerve palsy, Fourth nerve palsy, Sixth nerve palsy, ophthalmoplegia. Ocular movement disorders with muscular cause, ptosis and pseudoptosis. Eye signs with CNS tumours, vascular disorders. Phacomatosis. Eye and nero-infection. Cortex blindness.
