- Course objectives
- The course prepares students, future paramedics, both theoretically and practically to deal with emergencies with a preponderance of medical issues in the pre-hospital and early hospital phase. It also prepares students for cooperation within the Integrated Rescue System of the Czech Republic.
- Learning outcomes
- - The student can verbally describe an extraordinary event and its basic characteristic aspects; - The student demonstrates knowledge of the individual components of the IZS; - The student can triage the wounded using the START method in a simulated environment; - The student is able to deal with emergencies in the field from the perspective of an IZS paramedic; the student demonstrates this skill through a project activity
- Syllabus
- General part - development, position and role of disaster medicine in the contemporary world, state security policy, crisis planning and emergency preparedness of health care, Healthcare rescue chain. Integrated Rescue System as a tool for coordination of activities of rescue services in dealing with emergencies and Type activities defining specific procedures and interaction of its basic components. Recommended procedures for dealing with, the distinction between emergency medicine (UM) and disaster medicine (DM) procedures, the distinction between procedures used in treating an individual and procedures used in dealing with an emergency (MU) with prevalence of medical issues, in mass health disability (MHD). Preparation for dealing with HPZ by members of the medical emergency service call-out team in the pre-hospital phase and the procedure for dealing with it by emergency department teams and others, at the entrance of hospitals. All within the recommended procedures of the Society of Emergency and Disaster Medicine. The substance will be discussed in a clear step-by-step manner. Initial contact with MU, estimating the scope and activation of trauma plans, telecommunications technologies used, The activities of the first emergency medical services crew at the MU site and the organization of the emergency medical services intervention, Patient triage and rescheduling procedure, need for lay pre-sort START, Structure, location, preparation and organization of the assembly area (dressing area) of the affected, Organization of staged treatment (minimum acceptable treatment) and removal of the affected, Point of contact of hospitals, receiving reports of MU, activation of trauma plan, Release of bed capacity of target and other hospital wards, Routing patients to separate admissions according to severity of disability, Organization at individual admissions, tasks of the chief physician and head of the NICU, Procedure for re-sorting, registration and identification of disabled patients at admissions, Procedure if decontamination is required before entering the hospital, Organization of care during mass admission of patients with use of small trauma units, Procedure for examination and staged to definitive treatment of patients, Organization of the placement of patients in one, maximum two target wards, Basic knowledge of medical devices, Cooperation within the IZS, necessary interaction of the Fire Brigade and the Police. Summary, examples of incidents and solutions, organization of ongoing IZS exercises.
