- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to obtain information needed to administer selected types of drugs, infusions, transfusions and transfusion products. The seminars will be focused on preparation, dilution, application of drugs, infusions, transfusions and transfusion products in intensive care.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course students will be able to: - describe the correct procedure of the preparation, dilution and application of various forms of drugs in intensive care medicine; - describe selected adverse reactions and possible complications resulting from the administration of drugs; - explain the principles of keeping the right dossier with regard to the specific aspects of the selected types of drugs; - know the principles of drug delivery and infusion in a continuous and intermittent manner; - know the principles of applying transfusion and transfusion products in intensive care; - explain the principles of handling linear dispensers and infusion pumps; - describe drug interactions; - explain the algorithm for dealing with complications resulting from the administration of drugs, infusions, transfusions and transfusion products.
- Syllabus
- Principles of administration of selected types of drugs affecting the central nervous system, cardiovascular system, respiratory system, gastrointestinal system, antibiotics, hemostasis drugs and other selected drugs (diuretics, corticosteroids, immunosuppressive agents, hormones, antidotes) etc. - Principles of manipulation, storing drugs, preparing and administering drugs. - Principles of administration of selected infusions in intensive care. - Application of various drug formulations used in patients in intensive care. - Drug interactions, side effects and possible complications resulting from medication and infusion. - Keeping documentation. Nursing competence in the field of preparation, dilution and administration of drugs, infusions and transfusion / transfusion products in intensive care. - Principles of drug delivery and infusion in a continuous and intermittent manner. - Principles of transfusion and transfusion products which are used in intensive care. - Principles of handling linear dispensers and infusion pumps. - Solutions to complications of medication, infusion, transfusion and transfusion products.
