- Course objectives
- The course provides an introduction to health care ethics. It aims to:
- introduce into ethical theories and concepts relevant for the ethics of health care and public health ethics;
- introduce into significant historical ethical aspects of healthcare;
- introduce into important ethical concepts such as autonomy, free will, responsibility, accountability, conflict of interest, non-discrimination, justice, human rights;
- introduce into the concept of privacy and confidentiality, personal data and data protection within health care;
- introduce into the concept of professionalism in health care and public health; introduce into the system of ethics committees, ethical standards and requirements for ethical approval of research project in the Czech Republic and in the EU. - Learning outcomes
- After completing the course, the student shall be able to:
- understand basic ethical concepts and theories
- identify and analyze ethical aspects of health care and public health
- implement the rules for privacy and data protection within health care
- apply ethical standards of health care research
