- Prerequisites
- VLBI0222p Biology II-lect. || ZLBI0222p Biology II-lect. || PřF:Bi1700 Cell Biology || VSBI0222p Biology II-lect.
The prerequisite is knowledge of cell biology at the first-year university level, demonstrated by passing an exam (VLBI0222p, ZLBI0222p, or Bi1700). - Course Enrolment Limitations
- The course is only offered to the students of the study fields the course is directly associated with.
The capacity limit for the course is 15 student(s).
Current registration and enrolment status: enrolled: 6/15, only registered: 0/15 - fields of study / plans the course is directly associated with
- General Medicine (programme LF, M-VL) (2)
- Dentistry (programme LF, M-ZL) (2)
- Course objectives
- After completing the course, the student will gain an overview of the currently used methods for imaging and analyzing cells and molecules and will become practically familiar with some of their applications. The student will visit laboratories and become acquainted with instruments for visualizing biomolecules in cells and tissues (cell imaging), such as fluorescence microscopes with confocal imaging, flow cytometry, and other imaging techniques. The student will understand the principles and applications of these methods, gain a deeper understanding of modern biological studies, develop an idea of how these methods are used in biomedical research and modern medicine, and be able to perform basic interpretation of results obtained through these methods.
- Learning outcomes
- Students will understand the principle and possibilities of application of these methods; will be more familiar with the modern study of biological material and their use in biomedical research and modern medicine, and will be capable of basic interpretation of results obtained from these methods.
