- Course objectives
- The aim of the tuition is working knowledge of the English language on the B2 level of the "Common European Framework of Reference" (CEFR)(Independent User) checked by an examination.
- Syllabus
- MEDICAL ENGLISH. Syllabus.
- 1st week: Registration for lessons.
- 2nd week: Revision of the subject matter from the autumn semester.
- 3rd week: UNIT 6: Respiratory System, Pathological Conditions, Some Procedures; Exercises. Grammar: Present Perfect Tense - Continuous Form. Conversation: Theme 6: Wounds.
- 4th week: UNIT 7: Integumentary System, Appendages of the Skin, Pathological Conditions, Some Procedures; Exercises. Grammar: Past Perfect Tense - Simple and Continuous Forms.
- 5th week: UNIT 8: Urinary System, Pathological Conditions, Some Procedures. Grammar: Clauses of Purpose.
- 6th week: UNIT 8: Urinary System: Exercises. Grammar: Transgressives. Conversation: Theme 7: Shock.
- 7th week: UNIT 9: Endocrine System: Pituitary Gland, Thyroid Gland, Parathyroids. Grammar: Gerund.
- 8th week: UNIT 9: Endocrine System: Adrenal Glands, Pancreas, Pineal Gland, Thymus. Grammar: Conditional Tenses: Present and Past.
- 9th week: UNIT 9: Endocrine System: Pathological Conditions, Special Procedures; Exercises. Grammar: Adverbial Clauses of Condition. Conversation: Theme 8: Poisoning.
- 10th week: UNIT 10: Nervous System: Brain. Grammar: Subject with Infinitive Construction, Object with Infinitive Construction.

- Assessment methods
- The course takes the form of seminars. Attendance is compulsory. Two absences are tolerated provided a letter of excuse is handed in at the Department of Studies. It is highly recommended to make up for the absence in the same week. Assessment is based on the results of the credit test and attendance.

- Information on completion of the course: Studenti se státní jazykovou zkouškou, příp. jejím ekvivalentem (TOEFL, FCE apod.) mohou vykonat zkoušku kdykoliv během semestru.

General note: II. semestr je ukončen kolokviem, nikoli zkouškou.
