Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with a comprehensive approach to the effect of the active substances in the body with emphasis on the impact of food during pharmacotherapy. An integral part of this issue is a large market for food supplements. Understanding the therapeutic value of medicinal products and the impact of dietary supplements is the basis for rational pharmacotherapy.
Syllabus
  • 1. Objectives and instruments of clinical pharmacology. Definitions. Law and clinical pharmacology. Information sources in medicine. 2. Basic principles of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. 3. Type of drug-drug interactions. 4. Individualization of treatment. Pharmacogenetics. Patient compliance. 5. Methodology of clinical trials. Pharmacovigilance. 6.Farmakoekonomika. Pharmacoepidemiology. 7th Drug interactions and Nutrition (CNS, PNS, KVS, GIT). Drug Interactions 8th and Nutrition (diuretics, antibiotics, medicines in oncology, vitamins and minerals). 9th biological activity of selected foods (the issue of secondary metabolites). 10th Dietary supplements (nutraceuticals) - definition, legislation (the Czech Republic, EU) requirements to use (Czech Republic, EU, etc.). 11th Supplements - CNS and the immune system (adaptogen, immunostimulant, anti-oxidants). 12th Supplements - GIT and genitourinary tract. 13.Doplňky diet - weight loss. 14th Case Studies - basic clinical problems in terms of nutritional therapist.
