- Course objectives
- By the end of this course student should be able to: describe the content, mission, basic theories and methods of social medicine; use epidemiologic methods for assessing the health status of defined population; apply theoretical and methodological knowledge in health situation analysis; assess health risks and propose suitable measures to improve the health of the population; understand the basis of statistical and systemic thinking in medicine, the basis of methods of critical appraisal of population studies results and consequent organizational measures.
- Syllabus
- Community Medicine has an interdisciplinary character. The course in Community Medicine covers basic principles of biostatistics, demography, epidemiology, and health policy. Students will be able to implement basic method of biostatistics and epidemiology and understand indicators Health for All Database of World health Organization.

For those who will have to write research projects and seminar papers during third, fourth and fifth year, it is strongly recommended to enrol the following courses:
VSIL021 - Information literacy - (3 credits) - e-learning.
VSKP041 - A course of working with information sources and tools (4 credits). - Assessment methods
- Colloquium
Requirements:
1. Written examination → 20 multiple choice question test, with only one correct answer.
All questions are based on ALL REQUIRED LITERATURE, and lectures.
SCORE
Passed - 15-20 correct answers.
Failed - 14 or less correct answers.
In case of failure, the test can be repeated TWICE, only on given examination terms.
***Any attempts of ACADEMIC MISCONDUCT, such as cheating or assisting someone else in cheating during the examination, will result in disciplinary actions, such as:
a-) Failing the examination term. You will be required to hand over your examination paper and asked to leave the examination room. This means, you will have used an examination term, with the respective score F / 4, on your academic records in the information system.
b-) Opening disciplinary proceedings.
c-) Failing the subject / course.
d-) Expulsion from university.
During the examination, it is forbidden to use items such as:
Smart phones / Tablets.
Laptops
To wear earphones or headphones.
