Course objectives
Subject enriches the topics of the following subjects: Psychology, Communication and Ethics. It is focused mainly on practice and use of some psychotherapeutic methods in the midwife´s work. It forms the personality of midwife. The goal is to introduce and master the basic psychotherapeutic movements and methods; obtaining certain psychotherapeutic skills for working with pregnant clients (courses of antenatal preparing), during the childbearing (physiological, early or high-risk one) and in childbed (visiting service, breast feeding); acquiring the psychotherapeutic attitude towards the clients with gynecological-obstetric diseases and understanding and adoption of the relaxation method. Autogenous training as the method of self-soul-hygiene.
Syllabus
  • Introduction to the psychotherapy: definition, styles and goals of psychotherapy, main psychotherapeutic orientations. Psychotherapeutic methods focusing on relaxation and imagination; methods usable at work of midwife (bibliotherapy, musicotherapy, artetherapy, aromatherapy etc.) and rehearse psychotherapy (assertivity). The issue of psychotherapeutic work with the fear, anxiety, and pain; psychotherapeutic work in very traumatizing situations (grieving, loss, death).

Teaching methods
Type of the tuition-lecture 1 hour, practice 1 hour. Tuition methods: active engagement is assumed, individual work, pair work, work in groups, active relaxation technique and method training, 85% participation.
Assessment methods
Colloquium´s granting prerequisite is 100% participation on lessons, active involvement in tuition; group work on written seminar work (3 – 4 students will choose the topic to elaborate together), themes relate to the learning (lectured ones as well as the study hour).
